A Day in San Sebastian: Covering Everything Important
Other than possessing the charm of a coastal city, San Sebastian is popular as an ultimate destination amongst food lovers. Its fame peaked after Queen Elizabeth II visited it in the summer, and people started to flock to the town to see what made the queen plan a vacation here.
If you don’t have enough time on your hands, and you only managed a day to roam in and around the town, you must plan your trip very cleverly so as not to miss the major spots. We are here sharing the best spots to cover in a single-day trip to your San Sebastian city tour.
La Concha
Attracting the majority of tourists, La Concha is the most famous spot in San Sebastian that can’t be missed, and is named the most beautiful European urban beach. For the longest time, it was treated as a leisure spot by the upper-class people of Spain. At present, it stays packed with the crowd all the time, but you will still find your way to the shore and enjoy your time there. Spread over an area of 1 kilometre and covered in white sand, it sets a perfect backdrop to the coastal city.
Mount Igueldo
Located at a height of 180 metres, Mount Igueldo is the highest green establishment in all of San Sebastian. It features an amusement park that was founded back in the early twentieth century to give kids a space for ultimate fun. To reach the top, you will have to take a funicular, a wooden carriage that was opened back in 1912. The viewpoint from the top offers a panoramic view of the city, jewelled with La Concha Beach. There is also a lighthouse on the hill, which dates back to the 16th century.
Miramar Palace
Along with boasting Europe’s most beautiful urban beach, San Sebastian also houses the royal charm of the Miramar Palace. The Miramar Palace was the summer residence for Queen Regnant Maria Christina. Spread over an area of 34,000 sq meters, the palace features the main building, gardens, and parks, with architecture that imitates the style of the English Palace of Queen Anne Cottages. There is a lot to see and explore inside the palace, and you will not have a lazy day being here.
San Sebastian is a serene coastal city that invites people to have the best vacation of their lives with many places and spots to explore. However, if you are visiting here for the first time, then these places must be in your itinerary.
